The cancer medicine Nexavar®, jointly developed by Bayer HealthCare and Onyx Pharmaceuticals, is also showing promising study results in liver cancer. The placebo-controlled phase III trial in patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma, or primary liver cancer, met its primary endpoint resulting in superior overall survival. According to new data recently announced by Bayer Schering Pharma AG, Germany*, immediate initiation of Betaferon®/Betaseron ® (interferon beta-1b) treatment in patients with a first event suggestive of multiple sclerosis (MS) can significantly reduce the risk of permanent neurological impairment as measured by the Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) by 40 percent over three years compared to delayed treatment. » more |
