Berlin. Bayer HealthCare has received new marketing authorizations for a number of products. The innovative long-acting contraceptive system Mirena® from Bayer Schering Pharma AG, Germany* (BSP) was launched on the Japanese market in April 2007 under the trade name Mirena® 52 mg. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved a new indication for BSP’s oral contraceptive YAZ®, which can now be used in the United States to treat moderate acne in women. Fludara® Oral from BSP’s hematology portfolio has received marketing approval in Japan for therapy of a malignant disease of the lymphatic system. Also in Japan, BSP recently received approval for its novel cholesterol-lowering drug ZETIA®, which will be co-marketed by Bayer Yakuhin Ltd. and Schering-Plough K.K. Japan. This co-marketing agreement is part of Bayer’s strategic pharmaceuticals alliance with Schering-Plough, which was announced in 2004.
